Windows 8 Surface Pro

Windows 8 version of Microsoft's Surface tablet will be on store shelves in January 2013 at $899 for the 64GB version and $999 for the 128GB version.

The "Surface Pro" is the more powerful version of the current Surface tablet, which debuted on October 26 for $500. That original Surface tablet has received mixed reviews (including from CNET), largely because of its Windows RT operating system, a less powerful variant of Windows 8 that includes some notable limitations.

Microsoft has also confirmed that the Surface Pro is expected to have half the battery life of the Surface RT table. That would run out to 4 or 5 hours.

Boldly going where no one has gone before

Augments ? reminds me of Star trek NG episode
Old Article I found interesting, Let me know what your opinion is on Genetics and manipulating  them.

The world’s first genetically modified humans have been created, it was revealed.

The disclosure that 30 healthy babies were born after a series of experiments in the United States provoked another furious debate about ethics.
So far, two of the babies have been tested and have been found to contain genes from three ’parents’.

Fifteen of the children were born in the past three years as a result of one experimental programme at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science of St Barnabas in New Jersey.

The babies were born to women who had problems conceiving. Extra genes from a female donor were inserted into their eggs before they were fertilised in an attempt to enable them to conceive.

Genetic fingerprint tests on two one-year- old children confirm that they have inherited DNA from three adults --two women and one man.

The fact that the children have inherited the extra genes and incorporated them into their ’germline’ means that they will, in turn, be able to pass them on to their own offspring.

Altering the human germline - in effect tinkering with the very make-up of our species - is a technique shunned by the vast majority of the world’s scientists.
Geneticists fear that one day this method could be used to create new races of humans with extra, desired characteristics such as strength or high intelligence.

Writing in the journal Human Reproduction, the researchers, led by fertility pioneer Professor Jacques Cohen, say that this ’is the first case of human germline genetic modification resulting in normal healthy children’.

Some experts severely criticised the experiments. Lord Winston, of the Hammersmith Hospital in West London, told the BBC yesterday: ’Regarding the treat-ment of the infertile, there is no evidence that this technique is worth doing . . . I am very surprised that it was even carried out at this stage. It would certainly not be allowed in Britain.’

John Smeaton, national director of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, said: ’One has tremendous sympathy for couples who suffer infertility problems. But this seems to be a further illustration of the fact that the whole process of in vitro fertilisation as a means of conceiving babies leads to babies being regarded as objects on a production line.

’It is a further and very worrying step down the wrong road for humanity.’ Professor Cohen and his colleagues diagnosed that the women were infertile because they had defects in tiny structures in their egg cells, called mitochondria.

They took eggs from donors and, using a fine needle, sucked some of the internal material - containing ’healthy’ mitochondria - and injected it into eggs from the women wanting to conceive.

Because mitochondria contain genes, the babies resulting from the treatment have inherited DNA from both women. These genes can now be passed down the germline along the maternal line.

A spokesman for the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), which regulates ’assisted reproduction’ technology in Britain, said that it would not license the technique here because it involved altering the germline.

Jacques Cohen is regarded as a brilliant but controversial scientist who has pushed the boundaries of assisted reproduction technologies.

He developed a technique which allows infertile men to have their own children, by injecting sperm DNA straight into the egg in the lab.

Prior to this, only infertile women were able to conceive using IVF. Last year, Professor Cohen said that his expertise would allow him to clone children --a prospect treated with horror by the mainstream scientific community.

’It would be an afternoon’s work for one of my students,’ he said, adding that he had been approached by ’at least three’ individuals wishing to create a cloned child, but had turned down their requests.

Car to Home Technology

I had an Idea about connecting your car to your home, Having the ability to turn on lights in your house while pulling up to the driveway it would be safer then walking into a dark house. Also able to recognize movement of any kind inside all rooms and identifying them if they are family or not and relaying that info to you while your pulling in your driveway. It also has a facial recognition and voice built inside your car as well inside the house. Was thinking about having the screen built into the visor, you can program it to do different tasks while you are in your car. Thinking about object recognitions right now will have to do more "Thinking".

Imagine A car That can actually communicate with not only other cars but with weather, news, your personal info, social sites, traffic control, and also wireless linked to your home servers. The car updates your social sites but allows you to opt out,it gives you real time info on the weather and traffic,Tells you what is the best route, does a self check of all systems and searches for potential problems ex low tire etc. allows you to access your home servers and all the info can be sent to your vehicle. See thru screens can popup on the lower part of the windshield not blocking your view of the road, you can opt out of that, so it will only show the window if your car is stopped. It also has a automated response systems, smart road technologies. which Smart road Tech is linked to your vehicle giving you info on the road conditions that you are traveling on the average speeds, problems ahead This project has more to it.

Future Bathroom Ideas

This is from a friend of mine who we can just call Mr Monkey for now At a recent COMDEX, Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics: 1. For no reason whatsoever your car would crash twice a day. 2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have to buy a new car. 3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would just accept this, restart and drive on. 4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn, would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you bought "Car95" or "CarNT." But then you would have to buy more seats. 6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five per cent of the roads. 7. The oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single "general car default" warning light. 8. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt. 9. The airbag system would say "Are you sure?" before going off. 10. Occasionally for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key, and grab hold of the radio antenna. 11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally road maps (now a GM subsidiary), even though they neither need them nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the car's performance to diminish by 50% or more. Moreover, GM would become a target for investigation by the Justice Department. 12. Everytime GM introduced a new model car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 13. You'd press the "start" button to shut off the engine.

Well first I'd like to see less vehicles and more alternative transport like public look how many people can ride in a city bus compared to a standard sedan. Now I'm not saying get rid of all personal vehicles etc. But I think it would be cheaper for all and cuts back on carbon, now if we were to come up with a solution to get rid of the carbon emissions or cut them in half in all vehicles then great. But until we can come up with a solution I think city transportation would be best or adopt bicycling like I have..
Another thing on transportation if we were to be able to cut back on burning fossil fuels etc. for transport, Then why not cut back on car accidents by building what I like to call A SMART ROAD AND CAR.Basically a combination of the car in mission impossible ghost protocol and I robot giving the ultimate vehicle. I would like to call apon  APPLE Inc. To have its tech combined with Intel computer processors. From Apple we will get a windshield that has popup windows but still allows the driver to see thru window perfectly. Automatic Corrective Steering it senses When there is a blow out or you begin to skid or swerve etc It will kick in and provide the correct amount of steering to allow a safe stop or for the driver to get control. There will be a ABS and AGS like no other it works just like the ACS the braking will provide enough brake to stop safely combined with with AGS and ACS, AGS  is automatic gas system provides acceleration in order to gain control or to avoid objects etc. With all this it will have an automatic driving system ADS, you can switch from automatic to self, but AGS,ACS,ABS Will always be on. There will be many cameras and ground and auto detecting cameras and sensors which will detect how fast or slow you are traveling it also detects the speed of other cars around you  so to know how much break to apply if need etc.It also programs your destination into the on board maping system, and gets local traffic reports and weather, it calculates the fast's and most safes routes. It also has video calls that pop up on your windshield but detects if you are in automatic driving mode then it will pop up but if not then it will wait until the vehicle is parked or stopped. It will have many safety and luxury features. The SMART CARS NAME WOULD BE COOL IF I COULD GET YOUR OPINION.
THERE WILL BE MANY MORE FEATURE ETC One other thing just thought of this what if you see a car you like and want to get to know that person or pass someone driving well just select the option on the popup screen and it pulls up a animated map of the cars in your area and you can just touch which car you want to connect with and if you are in  automatic mode u can send a text to them or call them. You will have a contact list and everytime that persons car gets close to you  a alert will popup on you display.
I was thinking what if Your car and the road you drive on is communicating to each other road telling you what  traffic is like ahead and around it can let you know when there is something wrong with the cars around you also telling you if your tires are in good shape and detecting if there is any leaks in your engine etc. also giving reports on how long your drive will be at the speed you are going with the traffic. Also detecting when a part of the road is slippery or wet or damaged and letting your car know the details so it can correct its speed etc.
